Meet Matt

Lifelong Boardman Resident, Local Attorney, Civic Leader

I’m Matt Gambrel, Boardman born and raised. I live here with my wife Megan (we met in law school) and our two young daughters, Allie and Erin. I graduated from Boardman High School, earned my bachelor’s at Ohio University, and received my law degree from Cleveland State. I’ve spent the last 16 years practicing law locally, focusing on probate and estate planning.

As an attorney in Mahoning County, I am a solo practitioner running my own business in probate law. I know the importance of fiscal responsibility, clear communication, and advocating for others.

What I Stand For

I’m not running to climb a political ladder, I’m running because I’m one of you.
I’m a father, a neighbor, a taxpayer, and a lifelong Boardman resident. I know what it means to be part of this community because I’ve never left it. My personal values reflect those of the families who live and work here every day.

Stay Grounded, Stay Accessible

Titles don’t make leaders, actions do. I believe elected officials should never lose touch with the people they serve. I’ll remain approachable, return calls, and keep residents informed, because that’s what neighbors do.

Government Should Work For You

Decisions made by trustees should reflect what the people want, not what the few decide behind closed doors. I’ll advocate for open government, clear communication, and transparent decision-making.

Shared Struggles Build Better Solutions

As a homeowner, small business owner, and parent of young kids, I face the same challenges other families do, rising taxes, road conditions, school funding, safety. That’s why I’m motivated to work on real, practical solutions that help everyone.

Fresh Eyes Bring Better Ideas

The same problems won’t be solved by the same perspectives. I’ve never held political office, and I see that as a strength. I bring fresh thinking and a community-first mindset to every issue.

Respect the Public’s Money

Every tax dollar matters. I believe in careful, intentional spending and will always prioritize cutting waste before raising taxes.

Public Service is a Privilege

I see the trustee role as a way to give back, not as a position of status. I’m running to serve, not to be served.
